PB on TV September 2nd, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint

If you haven't been blown away by some super storm, tune in to some paintball on Tuesday at 3:30 and see Chris Lasoya tear it up. Having seen him play in person, I gotta say he's got mad field awareness, and I'm actually really looking forward to this episode.

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 26th

The show highlights Thomas Taylor this week, so we get to see some XSV games.
After a long behind the paint section we get to the first match-up, XSV v Tampa Bay Damage. Tampa Bay looked asleep at the light when the game starts, but hold their own for a bit and the game doesn't go anywhere for a minute or so until Junior Brown for XSV makes a powerful move up the dorito side, taking out a couple of Tampa Bay players and allowing XSV to quickly close up the game except for a brief 1 on 3 at the end where XSV almost throws it all away.
More behind the paint stuff.
Next up XSV take on the New England Hurricanes. Both teams have a good break out with Hurricanes getting a guy (Billy Bernacchia) all the way to S2 right away while shooting Thomas Taylor out of XSV's S1. The Hurricanes continue to play well slowly picking XSV players off until it's 1 on 6, winning the game with 6 alive.
It's time for more 1 on 1 skills challenges. Today it's quarter finals.
First up Thomas Taylor eliminates Rusty Glaze
Next Chino Carbajal eliminates Chris Lasoya
Finally Ryan Greenspan eliminates Josh Ouimet who was in the quarter finals as a wild card, as you'll remember Josh was eliminated by Chino on the August 19th show.
Lastly we get one more game, XSV v DC Arsenal. Good breakouts on both sides. XSV takes S2 early on. Arsenal drops a body on the dorito side pretty early. After some back and forth the Arsenal snake guy moves up to the XSV 40, which is a little too far, too early and gets picked off by XSV. After that it all falls apart for Arsenal and XSV quickly finish the game with 6 bodies alive.
Next week is Chris Lasoya, see you then.

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 19th

The highlighted player this week is Rusty Glaze of LA Infamous.
The first matchup is Infamous v Aftermath. Infamous gets a penalty pretty quick and after just 30 seconds Lasoya and the snake player (Kenny) are both on the Infamous 30. It's over in no time with Aftermath taking the flag home.
Next Rusty goes shark fishing? Cool I guess, but has nothing to do with paintball...
Jersey Authority is the next team to play Infamous. Infamous loses their snake player off the break, same as last game. Pretty quick it's 5 Infamous against 6 Authority players. This game is lasting a bit longer than the last one. Authority isn't playing very aggressive and take forever to push up the snake, but once they do get moving it's over pretty quick for Infamous.
Right when I'm thinking it's going to be a 3 game show they start showing more of the pro challenge one on ones.
First up it's Josh Ouimet v Chino Carbajal. With Chino advancing
Next it's Lasoya v Adam Johnson. Lasoya advances.
Last is Ryan Greenspan v Bissie Gold. um...
Anyway, it is a 3 game episode and we get to see XFactor take on Infamous in the last game of the show. Infamous finally gets their guy in the snake off the break. Both teams are playing it pretty safe sticking to their bunkers for the most part. After a bit Infamous made a great move the the snake 50, but doesn't really do much from there. Before long the game timer is running out. XFactor steps up and takes out Infamous, but there's not enough time to run the flag back.
It's a rough day for Infamous. Next episode is all about Thomas Taylor, hopefully XSV will do better than Infamous did on their next episode.

Just in case, here's the local weekend weather forecast.

The PB on TV review is coming, it's just a little late this week. Here's a taste of what happened from an IM conversation after watching the episode, "Man, Infamous got rolled and rolled some more in this episode. And one on ones."

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 12th

This week it's Ryan Greenspan, so we get to watch a handful of Dynasty games from Jax.
We're still watching games from Saturday and the first game of this episode is Dynasty v Excessive. It's a good game with both teams trading out players right off the bat. Excessive has some new guys this year and the game comes down to experience over enthusiasm as Dynasty brings the flag home. Some good snake playing in this game by Greenspan.
Next up is a beyond the paint segment. I notice all the highlight reels of Ryan show him using the DLX Luxe marker. I see ads for that on this site sometimes, which is funny, because you can't officially order it online. DLX is Smart Parts' deluxe brand and they only want approved shops with trained techs selling it so they can provide the best support.
Next up is the skills challenge. A one on one showdown. Finally a challenge I can get behind...
Thomas Taylor takes out Markus Nielson in round 1 Did Markus look like a scrub out there or what? Was he joking or seriously shoots like that?
Rusty Glaze takes out Todd Martinez in round 2
Next we get more beyond the paint.
At this point I'm starting to think we'll only get 2 games in this episode as they show the Dynasty v DC Arsenal game. Dynasty loses two players early, giving the advantage to Arsenal. After a short back and forth, Dynasty loses 2 more, while Arsenal still has all 7. At this point the game is over pretty quick with Arsenal using the numbers advantage to take the game home.
And that's it for this episode. Next week is Rusty Glaze. We'll have the preview up as soon as it's available.

Not much happening in August?

When there's nothing new posted for a couple weeks aside from when you can catch paintball on tv, you know it's a slow time for the locals. I blame the heat and constant forecasts for thunderstorms.
If you know something that needs to be posted up so more people will know about it let us know by emailing us at nwflpaintball@gmail.com. Until then we're looking forward to September with some lower temps and a couple tournaments!
We've also added a links section to the right. Again, if we missed anyone, let us know about it.

PB on TV August 12th, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint

This Tuesday's edition of Xtreme Paintball highlights Ryan Greenspan of Dynasty. Tune in at 3:30 central time to check it out.

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 5th

Back to Pro games this episode and it starts right off with a bang, showing Edmonton Impact v. San Antonio X-Factor.
An excellent game with both teams playing conservatively. No big moves, but by no means a boring game. Plenty of moves and patience from both teams gives us a game that swings back and forth and could go either way right up to the end, when X-Factor whittles Impact down to a 4 on 1 endgame.
Next we go "behind the paint" with Josh Ouimet and get to see pretty much the preview clip posted earlier. This show needs more field time.
Next game, Impact v. Golden State Ironmen. I really expected the Ironmen to over-run Impact. They're just that kind of team, super aggressive. This game though Impact and Ironmen both have similar break-outs and Impact is actually the first into S2. Before long it comes down to a 2v2 with the experience of Nicky Cuba and Mike Paxon giving Ironmen the edge to win the match.
Next is the pro challenge. They finish the run through challenge with Josh Ouimet coming out on top.
A surprise 3rd game finishes this episode. It's Impact v Portland Naughty Dogs. The Dogs are a good team that always seem to be just out of the top 3 or 4 for the season and put up a good fight against Impact, but before long they lose both corners, quickly followed by the guy in their carwash. This allows Impact to push up the field and win the final game of this episode. I'd say the move of the day goes to the Impact player in the snake with an amazingsnap shot on a Dog player who had been posted on him basically the whole game.
On an unrelated note I saw a lot of the new "crown" hopper lid and it looks like it works really well.
