Weekend Planner, A day late, a dollar short
Bob's forum hasn't seen any activity since Sunday, so no practice days planned there.
There's some rumblings about folks playing at the Coliseum this weekend, what day it's happening on is a bit sketchy, but if you're hard up for some holiday paintballing, that's probably your best bet.
As always, weather linky here.

A Moment of Silence please
So please observe a moment of silence as we all mourn the passing of one of the best fields in the panhandle. Also take a minute to thank everyone who put their blood sweat and tears into making it what it was, it was truly a labor of love and took a lot of work to set up and tear down each weekend.
Thanks for the memories...

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint Sept. 9th
First game is Aftermath v X-Factor. Clean, conservative break for both teams. X-Factor is the first to lose a man off the field. They also don't have anyone in the snake, which allows Aftermath to push hard up the snake. Soon it's 7 on 5 in Aftermath's favor. Aftermath keeps picking off the X-Factor guys and win with 7 alive.
Next up is Hurricanes v Blast. Both teams go to the snake off break. Hurricanes lose a body right off the bat, but take S2. For the next minute there's some moving on the field, but nobody is shot out until Hurricanes eventually lose another. Next a Blast player moves up and trades out with the Hurricanes snake player. It's now a 6 on 3 battle with the advantage going to Blast. With those numbers it's not long before Blast picks off the last of the Hurricane players, despite a 1 for 1 penalty on a Blast player.
They must be nearing the end of the season and running out of shows, because after a commercial break (click on an ad here, btw!) they show highlights of some of the other quarterfinal matches. X-Factor lose to Avalanche, then a Hurricanes and X-Factor game that goes to time with both teams getting to their respective flags in a bit of a crazy 1 on 1 endgame that I'd really liked to have seen. Next on the highlight reel is Authority losing to Aftermath.
Next full game is Blast v Ironmen. Blast lose two off the break and seem to go into defensive mode and slowly get picked off until Ironmen score the win with 6 alive.
The last game of the show is Aftermath v Hurricanes. Both teams have clean breakouts. Lasoya makes a crazy move to the 50 almost immediately. But Aftermath loses a couple bodies and are unable to move up and protect Lasoya, who gets picked off shortly after making his mad move. It's a back and forth game with both sides losing bodies. After having an early advantage, the Hurricanes lose bodies until it's even again at 4 on 4. The Hurricanes may have thrown away this game. There's some more back and forth until finally it's 3 on 1 Aftermath's advantage. They quickly pick off the last Hurricanes player and win the game. Easily the best game of the show.
The next episode is SemiFinals with Aftermath, Hurricanes, Blast, and Ironmen.

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint Sept. 2nd
After a quick behind the paint segment we get started with an Aftermath v Ironmen game. First off, Lasoya has a pimp mask, but it doesn't seem to help as Aftermath drop 2 quick. Ironmen also lose a couple and the game stalls at 5 on 5 for a bit until Aftermath loses one of their back corners, which is a hard loss to recover from. Before long Ironmen, playing a smart, safe game, pick off the rest of Aftermath to win this game with 5 up.
Another behind the paint segment with the best quote of the season so far, "I've already put my stamp on paintball. I could probably quit playing today and be satisfied with what I've won, but I'm just not satisfied with that"
Next up is Aftermath v Naughty Dogs. The Dogs have been having an up and down season and Aftermath could win this one with some smart playing. Aftermath made a crazy move straight to S2 off the break, but lose a guy going to the corner. After some quick back and forth it's 4 on 5, followed by a 1 for 1 on the Dogs, which makes it 4 on 1. Aftermath quickly closes up the game to win.
We get to see a recap of the skills competition, and a pair of One on One games. First up Thomas Taylor eliminates Chino Carbajal. In the second one on one game Ryan Greenspan is eliminated by Chris Lasoya
We get a third match up this episode as Aftermath takes on the All Americans. All Americans lose Konstantine right off the break and Aftermath is pushing up the field being extremely aggressive. After a couple of big moves the Aftermath wins the game with 7 alive.
Weekend Planner, Tournament Edition - Sept. 6th, 7th

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 26th
After a long behind the paint section we get to the first match-up, XSV v Tampa Bay Damage. Tampa Bay looked asleep at the light when the game starts, but hold their own for a bit and the game doesn't go anywhere for a minute or so until Junior Brown for XSV makes a powerful move up the dorito side, taking out a couple of Tampa Bay players and allowing XSV to quickly close up the game except for a brief 1 on 3 at the end where XSV almost throws it all away.
More behind the paint stuff.
Next up XSV take on the New England Hurricanes. Both teams have a good break out with Hurricanes getting a guy (Billy Bernacchia) all the way to S2 right away while shooting Thomas Taylor out of XSV's S1. The Hurricanes continue to play well slowly picking XSV players off until it's 1 on 6, winning the game with 6 alive.
It's time for more 1 on 1 skills challenges. Today it's quarter finals.
First up Thomas Taylor eliminates Rusty Glaze
Next Chino Carbajal eliminates Chris Lasoya
Finally Ryan Greenspan eliminates Josh Ouimet who was in the quarter finals as a wild card, as you'll remember Josh was eliminated by Chino on the August 19th show.
Lastly we get one more game, XSV v DC Arsenal. Good breakouts on both sides. XSV takes S2 early on. Arsenal drops a body on the dorito side pretty early. After some back and forth the Arsenal snake guy moves up to the XSV 40, which is a little too far, too early and gets picked off by XSV. After that it all falls apart for Arsenal and XSV quickly finish the game with 6 bodies alive.
Next week is Chris Lasoya, see you then.

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 19th
The first matchup is Infamous v Aftermath. Infamous gets a penalty pretty quick and after just 30 seconds Lasoya and the snake player (Kenny) are both on the Infamous 30. It's over in no time with Aftermath taking the flag home.
Next Rusty goes shark fishing? Cool I guess, but has nothing to do with paintball...
Jersey Authority is the next team to play Infamous. Infamous loses their snake player off the break, same as last game. Pretty quick it's 5 Infamous against 6 Authority players. This game is lasting a bit longer than the last one. Authority isn't playing very aggressive and take forever to push up the snake, but once they do get moving it's over pretty quick for Infamous.
Right when I'm thinking it's going to be a 3 game show they start showing more of the pro challenge one on ones.
First up it's Josh Ouimet v Chino Carbajal. With Chino advancing
Next it's Lasoya v Adam Johnson. Lasoya advances.
Last is Ryan Greenspan v Bissie Gold. um...
Anyway, it is a 3 game episode and we get to see XFactor take on Infamous in the last game of the show. Infamous finally gets their guy in the snake off the break. Both teams are playing it pretty safe sticking to their bunkers for the most part. After a bit Infamous made a great move the the snake 50, but doesn't really do much from there. Before long the game timer is running out. XFactor steps up and takes out Infamous, but there's not enough time to run the flag back.
It's a rough day for Infamous. Next episode is all about Thomas Taylor, hopefully XSV will do better than Infamous did on their next episode.
Weekend Planner, "Where is everybody?" Edition *updated*
Bob's will be open, even if nothing's planned.
Just in case, here's the local weekend weather forecast.
The PB on TV review is coming, it's just a little late this week. Here's a taste of what happened from an IM conversation after watching the episode, "Man, Infamous got rolled and rolled some more in this episode. And one on ones."

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 12th
We're still watching games from Saturday and the first game of this episode is Dynasty v Excessive. It's a good game with both teams trading out players right off the bat. Excessive has some new guys this year and the game comes down to experience over enthusiasm as Dynasty brings the flag home. Some good snake playing in this game by Greenspan.
Next up is a beyond the paint segment. I notice all the highlight reels of Ryan show him using the DLX Luxe marker. I see ads for that on this site sometimes, which is funny, because you can't officially order it online. DLX is Smart Parts' deluxe brand and they only want approved shops with trained techs selling it so they can provide the best support.
Next up is the skills challenge. A one on one showdown. Finally a challenge I can get behind...
Thomas Taylor takes out Markus Nielson in round 1 Did Markus look like a scrub out there or what? Was he joking or seriously shoots like that?
Rusty Glaze takes out Todd Martinez in round 2
Next we get more beyond the paint.
At this point I'm starting to think we'll only get 2 games in this episode as they show the Dynasty v DC Arsenal game. Dynasty loses two players early, giving the advantage to Arsenal. After a short back and forth, Dynasty loses 2 more, while Arsenal still has all 7. At this point the game is over pretty quick with Arsenal using the numbers advantage to take the game home.
And that's it for this episode. Next week is Rusty Glaze. We'll have the preview up as soon as it's available.

Looking for tournament news?
PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint August 5th
An excellent game with both teams playing conservatively. No big moves, but by no means a boring game. Plenty of moves and patience from both teams gives us a game that swings back and forth and could go either way right up to the end, when X-Factor whittles Impact down to a 4 on 1 endgame.
Next we go "behind the paint" with Josh Ouimet and get to see pretty much the preview clip posted earlier. This show needs more field time.
Next game, Impact v. Golden State Ironmen. I really expected the Ironmen to over-run Impact. They're just that kind of team, super aggressive. This game though Impact and Ironmen both have similar break-outs and Impact is actually the first into S2. Before long it comes down to a 2v2 with the experience of Nicky Cuba and Mike Paxon giving Ironmen the edge to win the match.
Next is the pro challenge. They finish the run through challenge with Josh Ouimet coming out on top.
A surprise 3rd game finishes this episode. It's Impact v Portland Naughty Dogs. The Dogs are a good team that always seem to be just out of the top 3 or 4 for the season and put up a good fight against Impact, but before long they lose both corners, quickly followed by the guy in their carwash. This allows Impact to push up the field and win the final game of this episode. I'd say the move of the day goes to the Impact player in the snake with an amazingsnap shot on a Dog player who had been posted on him basically the whole game.
On an unrelated note I saw a lot of the new "crown" hopper lid and it looks like it works really well.

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint July 29th
They're back to showing the skills challenges this week and AJ does the run through in 11.31 seconds. This puts him in 3rd place out of 3 so far.
Fun fact, AJ wears velcro sneakers when walking on the beach.
Games shown this episode were all BC games, starting with BC taking on TCP Machine. It's a pretty slow start and mid-game BC has an advantage but stall out a bit and end up getting a one for one, giving the game to TCP Machine.
The second game has BC taking on Denver Altitude. Altitude drops 3 players really fast, sliding all over the field due to a little rain that came and slicked up the field. BC again stalls out a little in the mid-game, but pull it out to win the game over Altitude. I saw a couple BC players with Egos this game.
Bizzie needs a new hair stylist.
Only 2 games on this show. Peace out, I gotta go pick up some velcro sneaks, you see AJ's girl? Damn! It's gotta be the shoes...

PB on TV Recap, Xtreme Paintball: Beyond the Paint July 22nd
The games shown this episode were the Allstar matches from Jax, where the North team (Billy Bernacchia, Kostia Federov, Tim Montressor, Jon Richardson, Brian LB Fow, Rusty Glaze, Josh Ouimet, JC Whittington, Prince Labiano, Alberto Chino Carbajal, Markus Nielsen, Frank Connel, Marky Ireland, Mark Lancia, and Josh Davey) played the South team (Alex Fraige, Ryan Greenspan, Nicky Cuba, Archie Montemayor, Zach Long, Chris Lasoya, Oliver Lang, Todd Martinez, Aaron Tholey, Tyler Harmon, Kenny Rosenberg, Thomas Taylor, Tommy O'Donnell, Chad Busiere, and Adam Johnson) for best of out of 3.
The South team took the first game with Fraige, Oli, and even Zach all playing the snake.
In game two the South takes it again with 6 alive, not counting all the playing-on JC does.
The 3rd game the South team gets a little crazy, since they've basically won the series, and gives the game to the North team.

PB on TV Recap, JT Sports College Paintball National Championship July 21st
It's semi-auto xball format so this hour long show consists of a single game. Good camera work and a couple of really competitive teams make this an excellent bit of PB on TV.
Irvine in Blue started the game well with two fast points but caught a major penalty midway through the first half giving Illinois the advantage and ending the first half 2/4 in Illinois' favor.
Illinois starts the second half with a gun penalty for a bouncing gun but manage to take the point regardless. The next point goes to Irvine, keeping the game interesting at 3/5 Illinois. The game finished with no more penalties and the teams swapping points, going into the last point with a minute on the clock and 5/6 Illinois on the board. Irvine pulls off an amazing point to tie it up at 6 a piece and putting the game into overtime.
Illinois wins the point in sudden death overtime to take the championship.
Both teams appeared to be players choice for marker selection, with Egos and DMs getting the most airtime. Although I'm pretty sure I saw at least one proto and a marq at one point.
